Across parts of Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos and the Philippines, industrial-scale compounds run investment, romance and impersonation scams against victims in the United States and around the world. The operations are staffed in large part by trafficking victims — people recruited with fake job offers, stripped of their passports, and forced to scam under coercion.
Our anti-scam section documents the main playbooks — pig-butchering investment fraud, fake job recruitment, task scams, impersonation — with the warning signs that identify each one, and the official channels for reporting them.
