Submit a Missing Person Notice

Publication is free. Before submitting, please complete the steps that give a case its widest official reach — our listing is a supplement to those channels, never a replacement.

Before you submit

  1. File a police report and ask for entry into the FBI's NCIC database.
  2. Register the case in NamUs (namus.nij.ojp.gov) — and for a child, call NCMEC at 1-800-THE-LOST (1-800-843-5678).
  3. Gather the facts listed in the checklist.
  4. Send the form — we verify against the official case where possible and publish promptly. Tell us the moment the person is found so the notice comes down.

Safety note: contact details in a published notice are public. We publish the investigating agency's number in preference to a family's wherever possible.
